We will be serving a dinner to approximately 50 - 70 guests. The time commitment is about 3hrs – from 4pm to 7pm. If you are not able to give your time on fridays, consider providing a dish, or provide funds for others to get ingredients and make dishes. We "spring forward" today, setting our clocks ahead one hour. Please help fight hunger in our Diocese by depositing your coin change in the pot in the Narthex. Our collection will benefit the Hunger Network in Ohio.

4-1-2012    PALM SUNDAY
Time: 8am, 9:30am,& 11:30am services
Where: St Barnabas sanctuary

The first day of Holy Week. This service celebrates Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem to proclaim His messiahship. We reenact the entry into Jerusalem by carrying palms during the procession into the church. In the second part of this liturgy, we recall the Lord’s passion and death in the reading of the Gospel. In Church School, the children will make palm crosses for the congregation and learn about Jesus’ arrival at Jerusalem.

 
4-4-2012    STATIONS OF THE CROSS (WEDNESDAY)
Time: 7:00pm
Where: St Barnabas sanctuary

This liturgy helps us to make, in spirit, a pilgrimage to the chief scenes of Christ’s sufferings and death. This tradition orginated with pilgrims retracing Jesus’ footsteps in Jerusalem.

 
4-5-2012    MAUNDY THURSDAY
Time: 7:00pm
Where: St Barnabas sanctuary

This liturgy commemorates the Last Supper that Jesus shared with his disciples and which we remember each Sunday during the Eucharist.

 
4-6-2012    GOOD FRIDAY
Time: 7:00pm
Where: St Barnabas sanctuary

The Good Friday liturgy commemorates Jesus’ victory over death on the cross. On this day we also pray for the needs of the whole world for through the cross, Jesus reconciled the entire world to God.

 
4-7-2012    EASTER VIGIL
Time: 7:00pm service
Where: St Barnabas sanctuary

The Great Easter Vigil is the most significant liturgy in our entire Prayer Book. This is a wonderfully moving service when we actively watch for the consummation of our hope through the lighting of the paschal candle, lessons, Baptismal vows and Holy Communion.

 
4-8-2012    EASTER SUNDAY
Time: 8am, 9:30am, & 11:30am service
Where: St Barnabas sanctuary

Welcome the Happy Morning of the Risen Lord with a Festal Eucharist on Easter Day. During the service and all during the Fifty Days of Easter, alleluias are sung and said. The Liturgy opens with: Alleluia, Christ is risen. The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia!

Time: 4:00 - 7:00pm
Where: SBC Parking lot

We will be serving dinner to approximately 50 - 70 guests. The time commitment is about 3hrs – from 4pm to 7pm – which includes car pooling to CAIN from St. Barnabas, serving food, and driving back to St. Barnabas. The time commitment is even less if you plan to meet us at CAIN. If you are not able to give your time on fridays, consider providing a dish, or provide funds for others to get ingredients and make dishes. Church School will host an OPEN HOUSE with coffee and treats. Come visit the Church School classrooms and meet your child's teacher.

This service is held honor of the 2nd grade Holy Communion class, and Church School students of all grades will be participating in this special service. We welcome all of our families and students to join us on this special day.

Come join your fellow parishioners for an early Thankgiving dinner. A time for fellowship and a time for us to be thankful together.

A Holy Eucharist service will be held to give thanks for all our blessings. Please join us.

 
12-2-2012    ST NICHOLAS PAGEANT
Time: at the end of the 9:30am service
Where: St. Barnabas Sanctuary

The annual St. Nicholas Pageant, follows communion, at the 9:30 service. This holiday pageant features members of the church school classes in a musical rendition of the story of St. Nicholas.



ST NICHOLAS DAY BAKE SALE
Time: before & after the 9:30am service
Where: Great Hall

The annual “Dessert Sale” fundraiser for landscaping needs. We are looking for all bakers to make whole desserts for sale that morning. Holiday cookies, pies, cakes, candies or breads will be sold as a whole item & not by the piece. Please contact Amy Rosenberg for details.

 
12-7-2012    OLD FASHIONED CHRISTMAS PARTY
Time: 7:00 -10:00PM
Where: Great Hall

This is a Parish Adult Christmas Party with the nursery available. Please bring an appetizer or dessert to share. Join with the clergy, staff & vestry to enjoy traditional Christmas music, singing, food & fellowship. Everyone is welcome!

 
12-10-2012    LADIES CHRISTMAS PARTY

All women of St. Barnabas are invited to celebrate at the annual Episcopal Church Women’s (ECW) Christmas Party. This annual event is an evening filled with laughter, fellowship, food, stories and a frenzied gift exchange. If you haven’t been, you should consider attending! Bring an appetizer or dessert to share along with a gift ($10-15) to exchange. We hope you will join in this annual Christmas celebration.

 
12-24-2012    CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES

Please join us at one of our Christmas Eve services. The 5:00pm service is the Holy Eucharist with Children's sermon. The 10:30pm service is the Festive Choral Eucharist. Don't forget to order your Poinsettias, "in memory of" or "thanksgiving of", to help decorate the church for the Christmas season. Order forms are published in the Sundries.

1-6-2013    EPIPHANY: FEAST OF LIGHTS
Time: 5:00pm
Where: St Barnabas Sanctuary

This is a special service of liturgy & carols. Feast of Lights, is celebrated as the time the Wise Men or Magi arrived to bring gifts to the Christ child at the manger in Bethlehem. Epiphany is celebrated as the climax of the Christmas Season & the Twelve Days of Christmas, which are usually counted from December 25 until January 5th. After the Blessing, the congregation sings Silent Night as the church darkens & the Youth light the candles for everyone. Then, the feast ends with a silent candlelight processional to the Great Hall. After all gather, a prayer is said. Since this is an occasion for feasting, a special King’s Cake will be served as part of the festivities. Several items will be within the cake with a surprise meaning for whoever receives them! Please come to St. Barnabas to end the joyous Christmas Season.

 
2-13-2013    SHROVE TUESDAY PANCAKE SUPPER
Time: 5:30-7:00pm
Where: Undercroft

St. Barnabas families and friends are invited to attend the annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper hosted by the St. Barnabas Adult Choir. Enjoy all you can eat: pancakes, sausages, applesauce and beverages. The cost is: Adult $5.00, Children $3.00, Family Maximum is $15.00. This fundraiser benefits the Choir Music Fund. Come for good fellowship and good eats!

 
2-14-2013    ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICES

Ash Wednesday begins the forty days of Lent. We will inaugurate the solemn season of Lent for reflection, rest and repentance with the celebration of Holy Eucharist and the Imposition of Ashes.
