Music is an essential part of worship at St. Barnabas. Our love for God spreads out from the music we make each Sunday at St. Barnabas.
A key component of services at St. Barnabas is our Rodgers 5 Manual Trillium pipe organ, a purchase made possible by designated donations. As a result, our music program reflects powerful capability and creativity, and is clearly a centerpiece of our Sunday.
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord! Join the Choir and sing at the 10 a.m. worship and various special holy services throughout the year, including Lessons & Carols, Christmas Eve (10 p.m.), Holy Week services, and St. Barnabas Day (around June 11).
You don't need any previous experience to join the Choir, and every type of voice is needed: high, low, trained, untrained. The repertoire of anthems leans principally on the great tradition of Anglican Church music, but spirituals, chants, and works by contemporary composers are also sung. You are welcome to sit with the choir throughout the service or sit with your family and join the Choir for the anthem.
Rehearsals are Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. in the Choir Room downstairs, and
Sundays at 8:45 a.m. in the Sanctuary
The St. Barnabas Handbell Choir is comprised of adults and youth dedicated to ringing handbell music for worship and praise.
Handbells are wonderful worship instruments, and they add a joyful element to worship services. We ring once a month at the 10 a.m. service in addition to special holy services throughout the program year, including Lessons and Carols, Christmas Eve, and St. Barnabas Day.
You don't need previous experience to join. You will learn how to ring handbells and become familiar with many handbell techniques. The group rings a variety of music, including handbell anthems and hymns during the service. Several
parents and their children participate in the Handbell Choir as a family.
Rehearsals are Sundays at 8:50 a.m. downstairs
Every voice is a joyful voice! The St. Barnabas Youth Choir teaches youth to sing confidently and share their collective voices during various worship services throughout the year. We welcome school age youth who enjoy music and like to sing. Your child doesn't need prior experience to join this fun group of kids, but the ability to read words is helpful.
