Church Nursery Child Care Provider

We are seeking an additional nursery child care provider to care for our youngest members and visitors on Sunday mornings. 

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • At least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license

  • Current on Infant/Child CPR – training may be provided

  • Fulfillment of Safeguarding God’s Children Policies (online training - St. Barnabas can help to acquire)

  • Previous experience working with children ages 0-3 years old (minimum 1 year)

  • Complete a background check

Essential Duties & Job Description

This position will care for children infants through age three during our Sunday worship service; about 1.5 - 2 hours each Sunday. Christmas Eve services, Easter services, and other church worship and congregational activities will be worked as negotiated. Child care provider must be comfortable interacting with infants and toddlers and working with church volunteers and staff. Position is responsible for keeping the nursery space clean and organized and for keeping an inventory of needed nursery items, toys, etc...

 

  • Check diapers every hour and change children when needed

  • Introduce yourself to parents/guardians who visit the Nursery 

  • Be prepared to work at least three Sunday mornings a month and during special events and church meetings as negotiated. 

  • Use the provided forms to accurately record hours worked each week 

  • Communicate supplies needed to supervisor

  • Abide by Safeguarding God’s Children policies 

  • Participate in the cleaning of the nursery and its supplies after a shift 

  • Engage in free play with the children during your shift or participate in other duties assigned to you 

  • Always abide by the St. Barnabas Employee Policies which include dressing appropriately for this position, staying off cell phones during your shift, and keep food and drink in designated areas and away from children 

  • Provide a safe, secure, clean environment for children 

  • This position is hourly and has no benefits/vacation time 

General Qualifications

  • Be of good moral character including trustworthiness and dependability

  • Be dependable by arriving for your shift on-time

  • Be polite, friendly and courteous to all children, parents and other staff

  • Must be able to stand for more than an hour at times; also, crawl, stoop, kneel, walk, sit, crawl, reach up with hands and arms, and lift 25 pounds.

Compensation & Hours

Compensation: $15.00 – $20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. 

Hours: Sunday morning availability from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

This position requires a background check and completion of The Episcopal Church’s ‘Safeguarding God’s People Workshop’ on child abuse prevention. St. Barnabas will help to set up training and pay any necessary fees.
