St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, in Montgomery, is a growing multicultural and multi-generational community that is dedicated to spiritual growth, serving our neighbors, and courageously sharing God’s love with all people.
St. Barnabas is seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable Office Administrator to provide administrative support for our clergy and staff. The Office Administrator serves as an important point of connection for clergy, staff, ministry leaders, members, and visitors, helping ensure that the church office operates efficiently and effectively.
Requirements:
The Office Administrator is responsible for overseeing all church operations, while helping to build relationships with our community. The Office Administrator will be a welcoming presence in our church, and help support the mission and ministry of our congregation.
Welcome parishioners, visitors, and community members with warmth and hospitality.
Manage the parish office, phone, email, mail and other daily communications.
Provide administrative support to clergy, staff, vestry, and ministry leaders.
Prepare weekly and special service bulletins.
Assist with parish communications and special projects.
Maintain parish records including visitor and member information and volunteer coordination.
Order Office and Church Supplies.
Assist clergy and staff with other tasks as needed.
Essential Duties & Job Description:
Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and discretion.
Friendly, professional, and dependable.
Previous administrative or church office experience preferred.
Ability to operate office equipment and experience with Microsoft Office, Teams, Google Suite, Canva, and Constant Contact or similar preferred. Training will be available.
A commitment to represent the church with professionalism and kindness.
Familiarity with the Episcopal Church or faith communities is helpful but not required.
An Associate's degree in business, office management, or related field.
General Qualifications
Be of good moral character including trustworthiness and dependability.
Be dependable by arriving for your shift on-time.
Be polite, friendly and courteous to all.
Must be able to stand, sit, walk, and speak; read emails and a respond to a variety of correspondence; and use fingers and hands in a variety of tasks, including writing /typing and computer usage.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, maneuver stairs, and move about in a variety of locations.
Compensation & Hours
Compensation: $20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Hours: 18 hours a week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

This position requires a background check and completion of The Episcopal Church’s ‘Safeguarding God’s People Workshop’ on child abuse prevention. St. Barnabas will help to set up training and pay any necessary fees.
