BBC Presents: Dinner and a Movie

Please let us know if you’ll attend by signing up here!

Join our Becoming Beloved Community Committee on Sunday, October 1st at 5:30 p.m. in the St. Barnabas Undercroft for dinner and a movie followed by discussion. We will be viewing the film America’s Truth: Cincinnati.

This documentary shares stories of how housing, education, and public safety policies have shaped our city and especially the lives of black Cincinnatians. As we seek to tell the truth, and strive for reconciliation and healing in our communities, we hope you will join us for conversation and reflection on the history of our city.

This film includes reflections from a variety of prominent Cincinnati leaders. The arc of this story covers 200 years from stories of Cincinnati’s role in the Underground Railroad, changes throughout the 20th century as the city grew, working to end segregation and integrate schools, and the power of churches to make a difference.

We cannot solve that which we do not fully understand, those who have been harmed deserve to be acknowledged so that we can move forward with healing and substantive change.”

This film strives to help show a path to deeper understanding and building a resolve to work together to solve the problems of structural racism. This film has been shown monthly at the Freedom Center throughout 2023 and St. Barnabas invites everyone to come and watch this important film together.
