Fireside Chat with Author Mel Gravely

A Community Conversation and Book Discussion

Sunday, April 16 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm in the St. Barnabas Great Hall

You are invited to join us for a fireside chat with Dr. Melvin J. Gravely II, CEO & Chairman of the Board of TriVersity Construction Co. and, author of the 2021 book, “Dear White Friend: The Realities of Race, The Power of Relationships and Our Path to Equity.”

Dear White Friend is an open, candid, and collegial series of letters to his white friends, written to bring us to a better understanding and solutions on the delicate topic of race. In those letters, Gravely uses his considerable experience as a business and civic leader to express a rare balance in this timely and urgent call to begin to close the gap between races in America.

The book presents an invitation to understand three questions at the heart of the issue: What is really going on with race in our country? Why must we care? And what can we do about it together? In the end, Gravely calls on us to ask ourselves, “What is my role in all of this?” After reading Dear White Friend, readers will understand why their answer to his question can change everything.

Please join us in reading Dr. Gravely’s fascinating book, “Dear White Friend” and visiting with us and Dr. Gravely on the 16th. Copies of the book are available on Amazon and there are 5 copies now on hand in our parish library.
