Giving Time & Talent to the Altar Guild

For the past few weeks, we have been reading and hearing about stewardship at St. Barnabas and how giving treasure, talent and time impacts our relationship with God and our neighbors.

This past Sunday wrapped up this season in the Church year with the “In-Gathering” of our pledges of treasure to St. Barnabas.

But perhaps you have been reflecting on giving your talent and time as well. I ask you to please, consider making a gift of your time and talent to the Altar Guild.

The Altar Guild is a vital worship ministry at Saint Barnabas that often goes unnoticed, but these are the people who make everything ready for Rev. Jane to celebrate the Eucharist and for us to receive the body of Christ on Sunday.

Altar Guild members work in small groups to care for and prepare all the linens, chalices, bread and wine for the Eucharist. This time in a small group gives you space to make new friends and brings you into a deeper understanding of the Eucharist. I feel my time on Altar Guild is a spiritual practice because it brings me closer to God.

If this is something you would like to experience, please, consider joining us. You do not need experience to become a member, we will teach you everything you need to know and there are no restrictions. Everyone over the age of ten is welcome. Joining as a couple or as parent and child would be a great way to spend some time together in service to God.

If you are interested or just have questions, please contact Deacon Pam Fairley.
