Hunger Heroes

by Erika McCoy

Our 4th and 5th grade Sunday School class, Sunday's Kool Experience, has been meeting every week via Zoom. We have just completed an amazing curriculum on “Compassion in Action.” We discovered how the scriptures help us open our hearts to everyone around us. John, Luke, Micah, Moses, and Matthew all told us how we can show compassion in our families, our schools, our communities, and our world. We made compassion packs for people experiencing homelessness, sent postcards to refugees, learned how to shop for products that are guaranteed fair trade, and created artwork for Kairos Prison Ministry. Our weekly prayers from the Book of Common Prayer reinforced the mission of the Episcopal faith and the importance of following Matthew 25:40 "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’’

HUNGER HEROES

Last week we challenged ourselves to become Hunger Heroes for the Holidays. We will be collecting our spare change from now until Christmas and will pool our money together to virtually shop for groceries for kids experiencing food insecurity. If your family would like to collect change and donate it to our 4th and 5th grade Hunger Heroes, we welcome your contribution.
