Summer Mission Trip

July 12-18, 2020

Mountain T.O.P. Mission (for kids entering 7th grade through just graduated)

This year, our youth group will make our 5th pilgrimage to Mountain T.O.P.  Tennessee Outreach Project is an interdenominational, non-profit Christian mission affiliated with the Tennessee Conference of the United Methodist Church, dedicated to rural life ministry in the Cumberland Mountains of Tennessee.

We’ll spend a week building handicap accessible ramps, painting, cleaning up yards, and improving the home sites for families in need. Mountain T.O.P. creates an open and accepting community, caring for the physical and emotional needs of these families. Rising 9th Graders and above will also have the opportunity to volunteer as leaders in Day Camps for 6-11 year olds.

Participants will be exposed to a variety of worship styles because we value the beauty of connecting with the Lord in different ways. Built into the daily schedule are four times to worship, either individually, in a small group, or as a whole community.

Mountain T.O.P. is open to youth ages 12–18 who have completed 6th grade. We are also looking for 2-3 chaperones for the week. The full price for the seven-day service trip is $450. St. Barnabas covers 1/3 of the cost, youth fundraise 1/3 of the cost, and we ask our families to pay the remaining $150. Scholarships are available.

We have a special guest from Mountain T.O.P. coming to speak during the service on Sunday, February 23.

The deadline to register is Sunday, March 1. To register, please submit the $150 payment:

  • By writing check to St. Barnabas with “MTOP” in the memo line

  • Through our website. Click the “Donate” button and write “MTOP” on the line that says “Designation.”

  • Through Venmo mobile app @StBarnabas-Church, with “MTOP” as a note

Please do not hesitate to contact Kathy with any questions at youth@st-barnabas.org.

Alternating years, we travel to Mountain T.O.P. in Tennessee and stay in Greater Cincinnati for a Summer Backyard Mission.

Kids4Peace Day Camp

Kids4Peace Cincinnati is a five day camp in early August where youth learn about Judaism, Christianity, and Islam and visit houses of worship from all three faiths. They learn skills to be peace builders and explore ways they can improve our community through faith-based social action. St. Barnabas is thrilled to be the Christian site for the camp from 2016–2019.

Fall Retreat

October 17, 2020

Our Fall Retreat takes place around the first weekend in October at the Procter Center. We usually meet at St. Barnabas at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, and we return Sunday after breakfast.
