Pumpkins & Pizza: A Beloved Tradition Still Going Strong!

This past Sunday about 65 children, youth, parents and grandparents gathered outside of St. B for a beloved fall tradition.

The name, Pumpkins & Pizza, is pretty self explanatory. But what the name doesn’t tell is our love story for St. Barnabas families.

This tradition began about six or so years ago. A few families gathered in the Undercroft for preschoolers to paint pumpkins, eat pizza and watch "The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown." Simple. Sweet. Heartwarming.

Over the years, we have grown to involve the youth and middle grade kids for pumpkin carving, while the new set of “littles” could still paint the pumpkins.

This year we decided to go outdoors for the first time. It is a good thing we did because we don’t know if the building could have held all the fun! This year included the playground and a blow-up outdoor movie screen. There were lots of old friends and new.

It was a wonderful and feel-good tradition for all!
