Keeping Families Together Through I.H.N.

by Kathy Kuglar

Six times a year, St. Barnabas teams up with Christ Church Glendale to host guests from Interfaith Hospitality Network (I.H.N.). We provide warm, delicious food and a safe and nice place to sleep for families without secure housing. While most homeless shelters separate guests by gender, I.H.N. allows families (and pets!) to stay together.

Our parishioners prepare a warm dinner, eat with the families, and clean up the kitchen. Our youth group plays with the kids for a few hours, provided a must-needed break for the parents. We provide two St. Barnabas adults to stay overnight, and prepare a cold breakfast and lunch for the next day.

Our remaining Sundays this year are May 12, July 14, September 22, and December 8. If you'd like more information about participating, please contact Nicole in the church office at communications@st-barnabas.org.
